Burlesque

Watched Wednesday, 29th December 2010.

I must admit that I’m quite fond of that sort of movie where a young provincial woman from a little town and with great aspirations comes to the big city to make her dreams come true… And when the movie is a musical, well, I can’t resist ! I hadn’t watched that kind of movie for a while — since Coyote Ugly, I think — so it missed me a lot and I was eager to watch this one.

However, I was a bit afraid to be disappointed because of the cast (popular actors don’t necessarily do good movies…), Cher and Christina aren’t known to be some famous actresses, you know… So I didn’t have great expectations.

That’s probably why this movie surprised me so much. Christina and Cher were actually good, their characters were credible enough. The music was kind of good, I mean good enough to be played a week long (almost non-stop) at home after watching the movie. The story wasn’t very surprising but that didn’t matter. Christina did a great work on stage, to dance like she danced, and she did a great work on playing her character too. Oh, and it was very interesting to see Kristen Bell as a mean girl, I almost didn’t recognized her as a brunette :D

Good movie, great music, loved it !
